Becky began dancing at the age of 3 and achieved many successes as a dancer. She was nominated for an IDTA dance scholarship at only 11 years old and at 14 became a Championship freestyle dancer.
At 17, she was awarded a place at the prestigious Phil Winston’s “Theatre Works” in Blackpool but soon realised her passion, and most valuable talent, was for teaching, rather than performing so in 2006 she began her teacher training with the IDTA – one of the world’s largest examinations board.
Becky is a highly qualified and experienced teacher that is always striving to improve both herself and her pupils. She is continually studying, training, researching and learning to ensure her pupils receive the best teaching possible.
In June 2017 she was the winner of the Judith Silvester Young Teacher Award, a highly reputable achievement within the IDTA that recognises excellence and creative talent within young teachers.
Becky believes her strength as a teacher is recognising how to bring out the best in pupils. She is very dedicated to ensuring progression and development in all her pupils both physically and psychologically.
Lauren first came into contact with Becky when Becky taught Lauren as a young 14 year old pupil at Whitcliffe Mount.
Lauren had danced as a child and after completing a dance leadership course at school, Lauren was eager to volunteer to assist Becky in some of the classes she ran. Very quickly Becky recognised the potential Lauren displayed as a dance teacher, she began nurturing her growth and teacher training and neither of them have looked back since!
Lauren is also qualified with the IDTA as well as having her Level 2 Cheerleading Certificate (NCSSE), Level 2 Certificate in Stunting and Tumbling (NCSSE) and Acrobatic Arts Certification.
As her ‘day job’, she is also a full time teaching assistant so she has great experience and understanding of children and how to get the best out of them.
Lauren is an extremely talented choreographer who’s original and creative ideas are hugely popular with pupils of Strive.
